I’ve been using Lawn Works for so long, I can’t even remember when I started using them. What I do remember is that after going through countless landscaping companies, all of whom ended up being completely unreliable in their service and questionable in their quality, I was relieved to finally land on a company that consistently delivers.
Lawn Works has tackled a number of tasks for me—from lawn cutting and landscaping to hardscaping and fence construction. Last year, when I needed to replace the fence around my pool, I consulted a number of well-known fence installers. All of them quoted me prices of $17K and upward with little to no variations. Lawn Works owner, Joe Hemphill, took a look at the project and immediately noted: there’s no reason to toss the entire fence…the frames need to be replaced, but we can save a lot of money using the materials that are still good. His crew came and worked with me (I wanted to take part in the construction because I had a specific idea of what I wanted…) in the 100 degree heat of July, and completed the job within a week and a half (more than 200 linear ft. of fence). The result was excellent, and as Joe had projected, I saved a ton of money on it. It ended up costing about half of what it would’ve cost me using a fence company…and they wouldn’t have given me what I wanted anyway. Pictures below.
Admittedly, prices have increased incrementally over the years since I first started using them, but as I often say, you get what you pay for…and sometimes not even that. I’ve always gotten more than I paid for with Lawn Works and I look forward to using them for as far ahead as I can see.

Lawn Works - I can’t say enough good things about my experience. I hired Lawn Works to replace an old worn out concrete patio with a flagstone patio, fence in my backyard, create brand new beds in the back yard, plant over 25 different shrubs and perennials, also extend the beds in the front yard and redo some of the landscaping in those beds. In addition , Joe and his crew designed a great privacy screen to separate the a/c units from the patio to reduce the noise and keep the patio eye appealing. Lawnworks has accomplished two big projects for me. The first was to prepare a large flower garden area where dying trees had recently been taken out. They removed old tree roots, flattened the area, built a stone retaining wall, and brought in topsoil. Neighbors have repeatedly complimented me on the beauty of the stone wall as well as the transformation of a very unkempt patch of land to become a blossoming pollinator garden a year later. The second project involved redirecting stormwater away from the foundation via grading, berms and swales. The work has been effective: I've had no more water in my basement during these big downpours! Additionally, the crew has cleaned/repaired my gutters, removed brushpiles, and fixed various small issues around the exterior of the house. Joe, the owner, is great at assessing a project and working together to create a plan.
